Not-so-faulty communication between Hollywood and government remains a problem for those who try to figure out how some actors stay safe while filming.
Hollywood blockbuster New Line Cinema is currently reexamining a 1999 movie about a killer shark following the death of actor Robert Shaw following a botched shoot. The actor, best known for his portrayal of Jaws in the film series, was killed when a prop gun accidentally fired, but there are still questions about who is ultimately responsible.
The incident and the confusion that came with it have led producer and executive David Katzenberg to sue director Ron Howard and New Line — the studio behind the 1998 James Bond movie Goldeneye — for reneging on their commitment to cover the actor’s funeral costs, according to the Los Angeles Times. New Line has also denied paying tribute to Shaw after his death. (Shaw’s funeral took place in November 1999, according to Box Office Mojo.)
