NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (WKNY) – The New Rochelle Police Department announced Sunday night they are investigating the death of a 60-year-old woman as a homicide.
Chief John Iosue told the Roslyn News-Press that authorities are investigating a death as a homicide at 1356 Hess Field Road in New Rochelle, which is around 3 miles south of the Bronx border.
Chief Iosue said Ms. McLaughlin’s family reported her missing Saturday afternoon.
Authorities found McLaughlin’s body Sunday afternoon in the back yard of a home.
Chief Iosue said “we don’t suspect any foul play and we have no suspect information.”
Chief Iosue said the New Rochelle Police Department is actively working to investigate the death of McLaughlin.
A source familiar with the investigation told FOX8 that she has been missing since late Saturday afternoon.
Authorities are withholding information on where McLaughlin was found or her cause of death until her autopsy is complete.
The medical examiner will be performing an autopsy on Monday.
Chief Iosue said detectives from the New Rochelle Police Department and the Major Case Unit are actively investigating the death of Ms. McLaughlin.
She will be taken to the district attorney’s office on Tuesday morning for identification, an autopsy and a cause of death.
The New Rochelle Police Department is actively working to investigate the death of McLaughlin.
So far Chief Iosue did not have any information on how McLaughlin died or how long she was deceased.
The incident is under investigation by the New Rochelle Police Department.
“The death of this resident is a tragedy and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time,” said Chief Iosue.
